Our story, mission, and the team behind TSC
Our Story
In 2017, our founder was inspired to create a supportive community for Tamil families with children who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). What began as a small WhatsApp group of four mothers has since grown into a registered charity, Tamil Special Children UK.

TSC's Mission & Values
Our mission is to create an inclusive environment where children with special needs can thrive. Through engaging events, supportive clubs, and community initiatives, we provide tailored care, therapy, and educational opportunities that nurture each child's unique abilities. Beyond supporting the children, our mission also extends to their families, helping them feel less isolated by connecting them with other Tamil families in similar situations and building a strong, understanding community.

What We Do
TSC organizes various events, programs, and initiatives that benefit parents, siblings, and children. Here's a quick look at the ways we build community and provide resources:
Parents
Support groups, workshops, and resources to help parents navigate each child's development while also looking after their own mental health and emotional wellbeing.
Siblings
Sibling committees, peer support, and group events that bring together siblings for shared experiences.
Children
Classes, therapy sessions, inclusive sports meets, and activities designed to empower every child's unique abilities.
Wider Community
Engaging with the wider community to reduce stigma around Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), promoting inclusivity, and fostering understanding through awareness campaigns and collaborative events.

Trustees & Working Group
Our trustees are parents who oversee operations, strategic initiatives, and ensure our nonprofit remains impactful. They balance work, caregiving, and leadership. The working group supports the trustees, helping with events, outreach, and community engagement.
Sibling Committee
Run by siblings (18+) of TSC children, this committee hosts awareness campaigns, events, and community initiatives.
